WAIKIKI COMMUNITY CENTER’S

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR & MAKANA OLA AWARD

Congratulations to Sensei Katsuko Mossman for being awarded Waikiki Community Center’s Volunteer of the Year Award.  Sensei has been teaching Japanese Arts and Craft class for the past 10 years, teaching others to create beautiful customized note cards using fabric and craft materials. She is often heard, in her quiet voice explaining the art of card making, utilizing many tiny pieces of origami paper to make these beautiful creations.

Our Makana Ola Award was presented to the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa for their many years of service and contributions to WCC.  In addition to being good community partners, Hyatt Regency Waikiki has hosted the annual Thanksgiving luncheon for the past 20 years for our Childcare parents, students and staff.  Delicious turkey and all the trimmings are delivered each year and enjoyed by many.  The Hyatt Regency Waikiki is also the home of our annual members’ holiday Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner events.  The Hyatt provides a delicious holiday meal for our members at a very discounted price.

They have also participated in the WCC Ala Wai Challenge and supports the Na Mea Makamae o Waikiki gala event.  Their staff has also contributed many hours on the silent auction prizes and currently working on a Technology Plan for the Center.  (Return to top)
