NA
MEA MAKAMAE O WAIKIKI
Honoring
the Treasures of Waikiki
August
22, 2008 @ Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort & Spa
On
Friday, August 22, Waikiki Community Center (WCC) is throwing a
special party to honor the Treasures of Waikiki with their Kahiau
Awards and raise much needed funds for WCC programs at the 6th
Annual Na Mea Makamae o Waikiki gala fundraising dinner. The event begins at 5:30
p.m. in the Coral Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and
Spa with entertainment by Pilioha and Brickwood Galuteria. A fabulous sit-down dinner
is planned with concert
performance by Raiatea Helm.
Over
800 guests are expected to attend as we acknowledge: Friends
of Hawaii Charities/Sony Open in Hawaii and Richard W. Gushman II
for
their contributions and impact they’ve had on Waikiki, the visitor
industry, the Waikiki Community Center. Mr. Gushman has been
responsible for the development of Waikiki Beachwalk in partnership
with Outrigger Enterprises and other developers. He was also instrumental in
keeping the ‘Hawaiiana’ theme and feel throughout the project and
opening doors for many of our Hawaiian artists. We are all familiar with
Friends of Hawaii Charities and the good work they have accomplished
with the proceeds from the Sony Open. WCC has been a recipient of
their grant awards to help our Seniors on the Go project, Childcare
windows project , playground upgrade, classroom equipment and
supplies.
Event
Co-Chairs: Susan Todani with Kamehameha Schools (and WCC Board member) and Barbara Campbell
with Outrigger Enterprises, our great planning committee and board
members are working hard to coordinate another successful event for
our Center. If you are
able to assist w/auctions items contact WCC or Sharon Weiner, our
silent auction chair.

TIME
FOR A S-T-R-E-T-C-H!
If
you remain hunched in front of a computer or over the wheel of a car
for hours, give yourself regular breaks to relax your upper
back.
Roll
your shoulders forward, bringing them up toward your ears. Then pinch your shoulder
blades together and drop them down to the resting position. Repeat a few times. Stretching tense muscles can
help prevent shoulder pain and headaches.

Therapy Services, Northwest Hospital, Seattle.
