WCC 23rd ANNUAL ALA WAI CHALLENGE

Join us on Sunday, January 27th for Waikiki Community Center’s 23rd Annual Ala Wai Challenge starting at 8 a.m. with a memorable Opening Ceremony on the Ala Wai    Canal.  A beautiful floral decorated double hulled canoe will proceed along the Ala Wai with our honorees and dignitaries, Anona Napoleon and Babe Bell, both distinguished ocean sports legends and leaders in the canoe racing world. 

 

Team members will compete in exciting canoe races and Hawaiian Makahiki games with a fun huki kaula (tug of war) to determine the team winner.  Fun activities include: Hawaiian entertainment, Hawaiian craft and art displays, and ethnic food booths.  Free parking at Tokai University and along Kapi’olani Blvd. Enoa shuttle to/from Waikiki.  A water taxi will transport people across the Ala Wai Canal, board at Olohana Street on the Waikiki side, 8am-noon (free).  Bring your sunscreen and mat and enjoy the races and day!
