 CANNED GOOD DRIVES FOR WCC!

MAHALO TO DUKE’S RESTAURANT; ALA WAI, JEFFERSON, WAIKIKI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & DOLLAR-RENT-A-CAR FOR 1500# OF FOOD!

Each year Waikiki Community Center (WCC) business and community partners donate canned items to the Waikiki Community Center Emergency Food Pantry.  This holiday season WCC members and our friends donated over 1500 pounds of canned food to feed the hungry and needy during this holiday season and helped to restock our bare pantry.

Big mahalo to the students and staff at Waikiki Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary School, Ala Wai Elementary School, employees and management at Duke’s Waikiki Restaurant and Dollar-Rent-A-Car for their annual gifts of canned goods!  Mahalo!

WCC Emergency Food Pantry is open each Tuesday, 1-4 p.m. and has provided over 900 families with food.  There are times our pantry is bare, especially during these challenging times. Donations can be dropped off at WCC office (310 Paoakalani Avenue), Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.

Know that your contributions will help feed those who are hungry – many who have lost their jobs and struggling to feed their families and make ends meet.  Mahalo to our members who also support WCC Emergency Food Pantry throughout the year!  Happy Holidays everyone!

SPOTLIGHT ON WCC VOLUNTEERS

Isha and James Peralta are currently volunteering their time and talents with WCC at our Thrifty Treasures Thrift Shop, as instructors for Ping Pong and help with repairs around WCC facility.  They met online in 2005 and married two years later.  Both had families before and said it was Divine Intervention that they met.  Born in Poland, Isha moved to Canada with her family when she was 10 and made her first trip to Hawaii in 1984. Local boy, James worked as a millworker, cabinet maker and in the hotel industry and did his apprenticeship with the Carpenter’s Union. WCC is so fortunate to have both James and Isha as volunteers.  Sharing their ideas and hard work, they have improved WCC and helped to enrich the lives of those they touch on a daily basis.  Mahalo for sharing your generous spirits and multiple talents with us!
