live independently, provide food for needy families, tuition assistance so young children
can attend school while their parents work and important case
management and referral services. Please give
generously and show your support! Letters should have
arrived at your home by now. Please take a few minutes right
now to complete and return the envelope. We're counting on

We’d
like to acknowledge the following WCC members and staff who helped
with our mailings in June.
Olive Lum, Patricia
Peters, Judy Trimlet, Dawn Ward, Jean McGonigal, Rhoda Cook, Karen
Van Tine, Amy Littlejohn, Becky Walker, Helene Webster, Shelley
Cheng, Bonnie Iwashita, Daysha Bush, Joyce Fukata, Gail Miraflor,
Donna Sallas and Barbara Cook. Mahalo everyone, we
appreciate your support!

MICROWAVE SAFETY
ALERT
Do
NOT heat any liquid (water, soups, stew, etc.) for more than 2
minutes per cup. After
heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for 30 seconds or more
before removing or adding anything to it. Micro-waved water and other
liquids sometimes get superheated and do not always bubble when
reaching a boiling point.
It is this phenomenon that causes the liquid to sometimes
explode out of the cup when moved causing severe burns to the skin
and eyes. Please be
careful! Share this
safety alert with others!
IRS REFUND SCAM
ALERT
Within
the next few weeks, you may receive an official looking email
claiming to provide information about your refund. Don’t open it, even if it looks
like it’s from the IRS.
This is a common tactic employed by crooks to steal your
identity. The IRS does
not notify taxpayers about their refunds by email, says a spokesman
for the IRS. (return to top)
