Perhaps you’ve noticed a new presence near the
main office.
Members Dawn
Ward, Lillian Chace and Helene Webster have volunteered to
staff a “Welcome Desk” two to three times a week in the mornings
from 9-11am. The
Welcome Desk was a brainstorm of the Member Advisory Council (MAC)
members who felt a personalized approach by Members to Newcomers
would be a great way to welcome and encourage others to utilize
WCC. The three
volunteers plan to staff the desk two-three times weekly and will be
greeting people, answering questions, providing brochures and copies
of the newsletter or class schedules and trying to encourage others
to take part in WCC sponsored activities. Thanks to these dedicated
volunteers for offering their valuable time! Drop by and say “hello!” If
you want to be a
volunteer, see Barbara. (return to

OLELO
NO’EAU HAWAIIAN PHRASES
'Ike aku, 'ike mai, kokua aku kokua mai;
pela iho la ka nohana 'ohana.
Recognize others, be recognized, help
others, be helped; such is a family
relationship.
Many native
Hawaiians live with their extended family and family is the most
important part of life for them. This saying teaches why they should
put family first...In the Ohana or family, you know others and they
know you, you help others and know you will be helped if there is
anything you need.
We thank our ‘extended’ family
of volunteers who do so much to make WCC a special place!
