32nd Annual Visitor
Industry Charity Walk
Join the
Waikiki Community Center Team!
May 15,
2010 @ Ala Moana Beach Park
Every
Little Step Helps
This year’s theme is “Every Little Step Helps”. At Waikiki
Community Center we understand how “every little step” can help
others. How true that
theme is! Revenue
generated at the Visitor Industry Charity Walk (VICW) helps hundreds
of nonprofits in the State of Hawaii, including WCC – every little
bit helps! With this
funding we have been able to maintain our important senior programs
and our case management services which help seniors with referrals
and important care.
In addition, we have received grants
from VICW for our Early Education Center to help young children
become better learners and prepare for kindergarten.
Waikiki Community Center is proud to support the
32nd annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk and invite our
members, parents, staff and guests to join the WCC Team! Pledge forms are available
from WCC office; call (808) 923-1802 to register.

WCC MEMBER HELENE WEBSTER HONORED
AS JEFFERSON AWARD NOMINEE
Helene
Webster , WCC member, was
recently nominated for the Jefferson Award in recognition of her
many contributions to the community. She was invited to a special
luncheon at Washington Place. Thank you Helene for all you do
for WCC & the community!
A Gift by Bequest
Charitable
bequests in your will or living trust are easy to execute and offer
tremendous flexibility.
You continue to enjoy full use of your assets during your
lifetime and there is no immediate donation
required.
We
have described here the most common kinds of bequests. After each we provide sample
language for naming Waikiki Community Center or a loved one as a
beneficiary. Always
consult an attorney for approval of language affecting the
distribution of your estate.
Residual
Bequest. With
a residual bequest you give ‘what’s left’ after your loved ones and
friends are provided for.
This is a very popular choice for charitable bequests because
it ensures that loved ones receive their distribution before any
distribution to charity.
“I
devise the residue of my estate, after the satisfaction and payment
of all specific bequests, payment of all taxes and other costs
attending to my death to Waikiki Community
Center.”
General/Fixed
Dollar Bequest A general bequest designates
a stated sum of money, usually cash, to a beneficiary. By stating a
specific dollar amount, you know exactly how much money will go to
your beneficiary.
“I
bequeath the sum of $____ dollars to Waikiki Community
Center.”
Specific
Bequest A specific bequest is used
to designate a gift of property, such as real estate, stocks or
other personal property.
It’s important to keep in mind that if the property is
disposed of during your
lifetime, your beneficiary may receive nothing.
“I
give, devise and bequeath the following described property to
Waikiki Community Center”.
The property is known as _____________ (please describe
property in detail including current
location).
Percentage
Bequest. If you would like your
bequests to grow as your assets grow you may want to consider a
percentage bequest. By
designating a specific percentage to Waikiki Community Center or
other beneficiaries, distributions will automatically adjust as the
value of your estate changes.
“I
bequeath Waikiki Community Center an amount equal to ___ percent of
the net value of my estate as finally determined for federal estate
tax purposes.”
Please
contact Denice Keliikoa, CFRE Director of Development with WCC at
(808) 923-1802 or denice@waikikicommunitycenter.org to
establish a fund that bears your name or in memory of a loved
one. Leave a lasting
legacy.
