WCC’s ANNUAL NA MEA MAKAMAE ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS!

The 6th annual Na Mea Makamae o Waikiki (Honoring the  Treasures of Waikiki) held Friday, August 22nd was a great success!  Over 750 people attended Waikiki Community Center’s (WCC) signature gala dinner as we honored Friends of Hawaii Charities/Sony Open in Hawaii and Richard W. Gushman II for their invaluable contributions to the visitor industry and WCC.  In these very difficult and challenging times, we are blessed that our corporate sponsors & donors continue to support this annual event.

Our event co-chairs, Susan Todani and Barbara Campbell were exceptional leaders and partners, working their contacts to sell tables and recruit silent and live auction items.  Susan even had time to create jewelry items for the auction!Raiatea Helm, Pilioha, Halau ’O Kaululaua’e and Miss Aloha Hula 2008 Kalimakuhilani Suganuma entertained the guests throughout the night with their dances and melodic music.  A spirited ‘live’ auction was held with fabulous gifts, including a Sony 40” Bravia flat screen TV and cruise, travel and hotel packages.

A big mahalo to our board and committee members.  Susan Todani and Barbara Campbell, Event Co-Chairs; Sharon Weiner, Silent Auction Chair; and Brickwood Galuteria, Entertainment Chair.  Committee members:  Christine Camp, Stephen Clarke, Karl Fujii, Nicole Hankins, Ann Kutaka, Gwen LeBlanc, Debby McGraw, Leona Naka’ahiki, Ernie Nishizaki, Noel Trainor, and Vivian Tsuji.
