Volunteer Recognition and Annual Meeting

WCC's Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards was held March 13, 2008 at the Hilton Prince Kuhio Hotel.  Over 150 volunteers, staff and board members attended this special day to recognize the Center's volunteers and conduct our annual meeting.  2007 awardees are:

• DFS Hawaii for their on-going support and partnership with WCC.  On May 2007 they completed a $100,000 make-over project at WCC with 100+ DFS associates.  Our auditorium was repainted, new tables and chairs for our open door lanai, garden supplies, complete renovation and refurnishing of our five (5) preschool classrooms to include bookshelves, new carpeting, wall decor, paint, tiling, counter tops, center furniture, multi-cultural/ethnic dolls, books and classroom supplies.  It was an exciting day for us! 
• Barbie Paris, founder of Steptaculars, dedicated volunteer and instructor at WCC for over 10 years. 

Our annual volunteer recognition and annual board meeting was held on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Hale Koa Hotel.  Waikiki Community Center is honored to present the following

• John Moffitt as the 2005 Volunteer of the Year.  John has been volunteering with WCC for over 17 years, teaching Yoga classes.  He is also our official BINGO caller each month.  Congratulations John!
• Soroptimist International Waikiki, Inc. - Winner of the Makana Ola award for their lifelong contribution and support to Waikiki Community Center.  Soroptimist International Waikiki has supported our Childcare programs, classroom equipment and supplies and membership services.
