Our Kindness Challenge is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep practicing! See some of the kindness suggestions we’ve listed below to get inspired.
Waikiki Community Center’s 21-Days of Kindness Challenge!
October 2 to 21, 2017
They say it takes 20 days for form a habit. WCC staff, members, participants, supporters and other community members invite you to join us in our 21-day Kindness Challenge. We hope to make small acts of daily kindness a habit over the next few weeks!
Each day we will be posting a suggested challenge on our website, on boards at the Center and on social media.
Feel free to use our suggestions or think of your own! We encourage you to share your own acts of kindness. Don’t worry if you are getting a late start – join us at any time.
SUGGESTED ACTS OF KINDNESS
Day 1: Say hello to someone you don’t know.
Day 2: Compliment a parent on how well-behaved their child is.
Day 3: Make two lunches and give one away.
Day 4: Say “yes” at the store when the cashier asks if you want to donate $1 to a cause
Day 5: Share a favorite healthy recipe with a friend or co-worker.
Day 6: Support a locally owned, small business. Buy local produce from a neighborhood or farmer’s market, a plant from a local nursery or dog treats from a neighborhood pet shop.
Day 7: Start a piggy bank for a cause. In a few months donate the money to your favorite charity.
Day 8: Give a thank you note to someone you appreciate.
Day 9: Set aside a few minutes and listen to a song that makes you really happy. Take that happiness and share it with everyone you meet today.
Day 10: Have a vegetarian meal (or day if you can!) Find a delicious vegetarian recipe online.
Day 11: Donate used books to a library.
Day 12: Grab 5 sticky notes and write positive messages on them. Place the sticky notes where ever you’d like to share kindness: an office, a bus stop, on a parked car or at school.
Day 13: Give someone a big, warm, comforting hug! (And smile when you’re doing it).
Day 14: Be kind to animals. Spend some extra time with your pet or visit an animal shelter.
Day 15: Donate canned goods to a local food bank.
Day 16: Be kind to yourself: Take a walk outside and think of 3 things you are grateful for.
Day 17: Say “Aloha” with a smile to everyone you greet today.
Day 18: Post a positive comment on a website, social media or community bulletin board.
Day 19: Use a reusable water bottle and refrain from buying drinks in single-use plastic bottles.
Day 20: Give a compliment to someone you don’t get along with.
Day 21: Tell someone one reason you appreciate them.
Day 22 on… Continue to smile often and remember to be kind. The world needs more of it!
