New mural adorns preschool

April 2025 - A burst of color and community spirit now greets families at the Waikiki Community Center Preschool, thanks to a brand-new mural unveiled this morning at the school’s entrance.

Imagined by talented, local artist Patrick Ching and Naomi Gauthier of the Art Agency, the mural is a heartfelt gift to the nonprofit center, made possible through the generous support of entrepreneurial volunteers who were in Hawaii attending a conference organized by MC&A, an event management company. Each animal featured in the artwork was chosen to represent one of the preschool’s six classrooms: Mano (Shark), Naia (Dolphin), Honu (Turtle), Pueo (Owl), Koholā (Whale), and Nēnē (Goose).

Our students, parents, teachers, and community members joined the muralist on April 10 to put the final touches on the piece, celebrating a moment that brought creativity, culture, and collaboration together in the heart of Waikiki.
